Solar Business Development Manager
Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a Mid-Atlantic region project developer working from our Elkridge office. This position will concentrate on solar power generation projects ranging from 1-5 MW in system size. We are looking for driven team members who have a minimum of 5 years of B2B development experience in the solar industry. The position will require identifying, qualifying and closing projects for the commercial, industrial, public, and municipal sectors. Development of these sectors will include net-metered, virtual net-metered, and greenfield applications.
In addition to the B2B project development experience, the work will require exceptional written and verbal skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences effectively. There will be significant client interaction and, of course, a high degree of professionalism required.
The prospective Solar Project Developer must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least five years of relevant experience with developing, negotiating, and closing solar projects with Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).
What you’ll be doing:
Creating and communicating a firm understanding of the specific program rules, financial inputs, and impacts, existing policy and upcoming regulations that may impact a particular market
Create and present strategies to develop specific sectors in the market
Communicate and present to internal leadership on the status of a new market and update development progress in the existing market
Attend conferences and will require networking with groups related to identified sectors
Identify, meet, and present to clients ranging from facility managers to “C Level” executives
Conduct site visits to understand proposed project locations and identify critical flaws in the proposed site
Need to interact with electrical utilities to understand tariffs and interconnection process to ensure the feasibility of a project
Create presentations, proposals and supporting documents for B2B projects
Manage the request for proposal (RFP) submission process, when necessary
Coordinate and manage engineering and project delivery team efforts including project siting, project estimating, interconnection submissions, project scheduling, and technical writing
What you’ll need to know:
Ability to coordinate, manage, and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
Experience applying high energy to complex sales transactions and demonstrating results through a commitment to quality
Understanding to create project cost models for constructed costs and financial models for PPA modeling.
Proficiency with CRM, PowerPoint, Excel and similar software.
Education, Training and Other:
Four-year engineering degree from an accredited university
Must be permitted to work in the US
